Lately, I've been on a tooth health craze. It included getting a Waterpik and a new electric toothbrush.
My old trusty Sonicare electric toothbrush almost died, and I had to switch to something newer.
But of course, that couldn't end there! I asked my kid if he'd like a new kids electric toothbrush and he said yeah. So I got him a new one from Notino.
After a bit of research, I picked him up a Philips Sonicare For Kids 3+ which comes with two brushes. One is for smaller kids and the other is for older kids.
Sonicare Kids Electric Toothbrush
Why did I pick Sonicare?
- An exciting start to lifelong healthy habits
- Simply follow the app
- Makes brush time fun for young ones
- Your child’s personal brushing coach
- No need for constant syncs
- For the development of a lifelong routine
The packaging is made from cardboard with as few plastic parts as possible (around the charger and the brush heads). It feels kind of different because it isn't made of shiny cardboard. It feels more sustainable.
Inside you get:
- two toothbrush heads (S and L)
- the brush
- a charger
- some funky stickers of the little monsters
- stickers for the brush handle
- Speed - Up to 62000 brush movement/min
- Timer - KidTimer and Quadpacer
- Battery - Rechargeable
- Operating time (full to empty) - Up to 2 weeks
I feel that there are a lot of options when it comes to customizing the toothbrush. And the stickers included making everything even more appealing to kids.
I like (well, my kid loves this function) the app. It's a cute app where the kids can learn how to brush their teeth - it shows in the app when they are brushing and where. It's actually pretty cool if you ask me.
The monsters (called Sparky) are customizable and achievements get gifts with which kids can customize the little avatar.
Kids don't need to use the app to get achievements - because the app is on my phone, I don't always give it to my kid for brushing. Either way, the brush saves the info (up to 20 times) on how many times has the kid brushed.
The only downside I have noticed is the stickers. For some reason, they won't stay put in the corners. I tried reattaching the sticker to no avail - it lifted in a day. I tried cleaning the brush with alcohol firsthand and it didn't really work. Maybe I should have done that before sticking it on. :P
Oh, but the most important thing?
My kiddo loves using it. He's now a tween and getting him to brush was usually a nightmare. But no more! He's enough of a kid that the cute app intrigues him and enough of a teenager that having a fancy electric toothbrush is just cool.
PROS:
+ kid now can't wait to brush his teeth.
+ nice design, the handle is customizable
+ great and cute app with Sparky (the monster pet)
+ can be used by small kids (3+) and older kids
+ two brush heads are included in the package
CONS:
- expensive (50-70€ depending where you get it)
- the sticker won't stay put in the corners
OVERALL:
Getting a Philips Sonicare For Kids was an amazing purchase. I also managed to snag it on sale, which is another win in my book. I love sales. :)
It looks great (uh can we adults also get cute electric toothbrushes please?), the application is handy and because the kid loves using it, there's one thing less I have to nag him about.
So yeah, win-win for me. Plus it's such a well-known brand that getting replacement brush heads won't be a problem.
