Now that the weather has gotten colder - it came from nowhere and now it's here to stay - it's time to bring out the big guns!
And by that, I mean that it's time to update our skincare routine. At least that's what I do every Autumn.
I switch it up so my skin gets more hydration and some extra nourishing care.
I go from a 2- 4 step routine (double cleanse, hydrating spray, hyaluronic toner and some hydrating cream in the PM and just vitamin C serum and sunscreen in the AM) to a multi-step regime.
I try to not overdo it, so I start by adding some oil at the end of my skincare.
Renovality Grape Oil Cold Pressed
One of the simpler oils I decided to pick for myself this fall is the natural oil by the Czech brand Renovality. Last winter I was using their Plum Oil which I loved dearly. But because I love testing new products, it was time to switch it with the lovely grapeseed oil.
Grapeseed oil is processed from the seeds of grapes, which are a byproduct of winemaking. ... The oils are usually extracted in factories by crushing the seeds and using solvents, but the healthier types of seed- and vegetable oils are cold-pressed or expeller pressed.
Characteristics:
- absorbed quickly and does not leave an oily feeling
- restores skin elasticity
I like using oils as an occlusive layer. That means that I apply them as the very last step in my skincare routine. This way all the products below it can do exactly what they should and my skin get a protective layer that has also some great properties.
Grape seeds contain a high proportion of vitamin E, B-group vitamins and minerals such as phosphorus, potassium, calcium and magnesium. The oil is absorbed quickly and is beneficial for oily and combination skin, which helps to maintain in good condition. Also suitable for hair care.
The oil has a green colour and a slightly acidic smell. It smells very natural and is something that I would expect from a product without any added scents.
If the scent is not your cup of tea you shouldn't worry as it disappears within minutes after application.
The oil absorbs quickly and leaves a nice soft sheen after application.
PROS:
+ leaves my skin looking glossy and feeling soft
+ works wonderfully as an occlusive layer
+ made from 100% cold-pressed grapeseed
+ has a pump type of dispenser
+ packaged in opaque glass
+ inexpensive (about 6€ for 100 ml)
+ can be used for hair and body too!
CONS:
- has a very natural scent that may not be for everyone
Overall:
I expected big things from the Renovality Grape Oil Cold Pressed and I was right about it. It leaves my skin feeling soft and supple. It does have a very natural scent that can't be compared to the plum oil (which smelled amazing!), but since it gets the job well done, I can't really complain. After all, I did get a 100% natural product.
Because it's a cold-pressed oil it comes in an opaque bottle which helps preserve the product. The downside is that it's hard to say how much of it is there left.
You can also use it for your hair and your body which is always a plus!
Overall I am a fan - after all, what is there not to love?
