The matte lipstick craze has been going on so long that they aren't even fashionable anymore. I mean, they are getting replaced by glossy, multi-chrome lip glosses.
But I am not a fan of sticky hair (because inevitably it would get stuck on my super glossy lips).
And I still swear by some matte lip products.
Of course, me being a Korean beauty fan, I had to try some of their lip stuff, right? Well, today I'll be talking about my favorite from them all - Peripera's Ink the Velvet.
What is it?
It's a non-drying light matte lipstick that comes with a doe foot applicator. It is long-lasting and once it rubs off it leaves a stain on your lips.
Matte and Intense Color without Flaking! True Color Payoff.
No Makeup Touch-up Necessary with This Intense Color with Lasting Power.
No More Dry Lips with Moisturizing Ingredients! oft Lips with Matte Finish!
My Velvet Ink is in the color Pin Red which is a vivid red with cool undertones.
It's the same packaging as the moist one |
I got this color in my Peripera's Ink An Art Of True Femininity - A lovely girls' Cabinet set. All are lovely, each with a different formula, but the Velvet is the most western people appealing compared to current beauty trends.
I really like the design of the small bottles and how travel-friendly they are. I can keep them in my purse and apply the lipstick on the go!
One thin layer feels like silk on the lips. Lightweight and resistant. The applicator helps with a more precise application of the lipstick.
The formula itself feels a bit wet and silicone-like. But I never had problems with it, so I think it's a winning combination for my lips.
It does survive eating and drinking. After a while, the bold color will disappear (while eating oily foods) but you'll be left with a nice red stain. The stain is beautiful and lasts for a long time.
On me, this means - about 6 hours for the lipstick alone and the stain lasts until the end of the day.
Price?
One 8g packaging of the Velvets costs from $10-$14. It depends on sales.
My 5g packaging came in a set that was on sale for $17 (normally it's $22).
If you feel like trying all the formulas, the set is a perfect thing. But if you are set on trying only the Velvet formula, then, of course, go for it.
