It's incredible how time flies by. Just yesterday it was hot and we dreamed of a nice sunny day by the sea, and today ... well, it's the new year! We are in 2017 people, we survived 2016!
Take a minute and just think about it. 2016 was a train wreck.
Not for everyone, but speaking generally (all the deaths, look WHO is the president of the USA, etc).
But I am not here today to tell you about the year 2016. No, I'm here to talk about the products I tried and loved all through 2016.
Favorites of 2016
If you are curious which were the Favorites of 2015, you can read it by clicking on the link. It surely is interesting how things change.
This year I don't have as many favorites because I feel that these are all the products that I need for a "happy me" day.
SKINCARE
This year there are two products in this category. Why?
Because I switched up my whole skincare routine and now I'm using 60% of Asian cosmetics and others are brands that are available here.
BALEA Oil makeup remover/cleanser
This is the product that really got me in the whole double cleansing routine. I bought a couple of packagings of this, which sadly got discontinued. I like to use it on dry skin, gently massage it to get all the dirt or makeup off. Then I wash it off with warm water. It's perfect because of its price (about 3€) and the fact that it doesn't leave me with dehydrated skin. But sadly now I'll have to find something else as it isn't available anymore.
ETUDE HOUSE Good Cera Cream
I tried a sample of this a couple of months ago. It's meant for dry skin or all other skin types for night use. I used the sample and loved it. That's why I got a full size. It smells delicious, sinks into the skin and leaves a nice and comfortable feeling after. It doesn't make my skin oily and it really helped with my skin dryness. I think it's amazing what a little cream can do!
MAKEUP
ESSENCE Lashes to impress - single lashes
I've tried several eyelashes in the past year. From Red Cherry to Cherie and so on, but I didn't find them comfortable enough or they were just too damn big for my eyes.
That's why I realized that I prefer using single lashes. They work the best for my eyes and are very comfortable. And I'm not feeling guilty when I toss them out since they are pretty inexpensive anyway. That's a win-win in my book.
PERIPERA's INK velvet
I am so happy that I got the mini set of these inks by Peripera to try. My favorite and most used is the Velvet version that looks amazing on my lips. It's a vivid cool red with a mat finish. The formula is smooth a bit silicone like, but very nice. It's easy to apply and lasts a damn long time. Even when the lipstick itself is gone, there's the stain that lingers for a couple of hours more.
ESSENCE MATT MATT MATT Lipstick in 02 Perfect Match
This has to be my most used lipstick in 2016. It's an easy nude that doesn't need a mirror to apply. It's just so wearable and it's hard to mess it up. I talked in depth about it in my post about the lipsticks.
CATRICE Eyebrow Stylist in Date With Ash-ton
Last year I already raved about this eye pencil, so let's be quick. It still works fine and I only sharpened it a couple of times. I still love it and will keep on using it until it's gone.
ETUDE HOUSE Proof 10 Eyeshadow Primer
Well, that to say. For me, this is THE eyeshadow primer. It's even better than Avon's eye primer about which I raved last year. Seriously this eye primer is amazing. I have super oily eyelids and nothing stays on on its own. This thing ... helps with that. The formula is lightweight and easy to spread. It's inexpensive and easy to order (Avon is a hassle to order). The packaging is not the prettiest but it works. The best thing is that it doesn't make the colors of the eyeshadows fade. I love that. I highly recommend it to everyone with oily eyelids!
ESSENCE Liquid Eyeliner Waterproof version
What to say, I'm a sucker for inexpensive products that work. This is one of such products. The felt tip works well and picks enough ink. Once it's on, you have about a minute for it to dry and to fix any mistakes. Then it doesn't get off. Unless you really rub your eyes and cry at the same time. For me, it works wonders.
URBAN DECAY Naked Basics 2 Eyeshadow Palette
What to say? I'm obsessed with this palette. It's the perfect daily palette. The eyeshadows are buttery and easy to apply and last a long time with my eyeshadow primer. They are easy to blend too.
The downside is that since they are so buttery, they do tend to crumble if there's too much commotion (like traveling). But other than that, it's amazing.
CATRICE HD Liquid Coverage Foundation
I never thought that this foundation would work with my skin even during the colder months. But it does. And for that, I like it even better. I talked about it in a separate post - Review: Catrice HD Liquid Coverage Foundation. It still works and that's what matters. Plus I love the bottle. Easy to use, less easy to travel (it's glass).
CATRICE Prime and Fine Pore refining Anti-Shine Base
When I was looking for a base without silicones, I got recommended this one. And I'm so glad I did. I used it as a cream before my foundation which made it last longer. A whole lot longer. It has no real scent and is easy to apply. It didn't make my skin break out (yay!) and it comes in a travel-friendly packaging. I also feel that 30ml does last a quite a while.
