Matt matters! the light, creamy texture of the new lipstick range unites a high colour-dispersion with a matt finish.
Matt is still in, even if it's slowly being replaced by lipsticks that are less matt but still aren't really shiny. But I believe that matte lipsticks are here to stay, maybe as a niche and thus I don't mind buying new ones from time to time.
This time, I picked two lipsticks from the Essence Matt Matt Matt lipstick line that is already available in some stores as a preview edition. In Autumn it will be a part of the permanent collection and you'll be able to pick up these beauties in 8 different shades.
I picked up two lipsticks in the shades: 02 Perfect Match which is a nude pink and 08 It's a Statement which is a deep cool-toned burgundy. I thought it was brown when I bought it, but it's not.

ESSENCE MATT MATT MATT 02 PERFECT MATCH LIPSTICK
This lipstick is a cool toned nude that looks pretty good on my pale skin. I usually have a problem with nude lipstick because they look to orange on me and that looks just bad.
I think this one is a nice daily lipstick since you can just throw it on and go on with your life, no need to be super exact with the application, well, at least I don't have to be since it's so close to my natural lips color.
I wouldn't call the finish a true matt but more like a satin finish. It feels really nice on the lips, non-drying, and a bit protective. Plus it smells delicious, but I am not sure what does it smell of. It's a warm type of scent.
It's also not very long lasting, but I don't mind reapplying it since it fades so nicely. It lasts about 5h without drinking or eating, but since I'm always drinking water, I'd say that for me that's more like 3 hours of wear.
ESSENCE MATT MATT MATT 08 IT'S A STATEMENT LIPSTICK
Truth to be told, I had high hopes for this color but it's a dark lipstick and thus a bit more problematic to apply. I think that it needs a lip pencil underneath or something to make it easier to transit to the darker color. I think I applied about 3 layers of it, but I still couldn't make it look right on pictures.
It takes a brush to make it look good and a couple of minutes (10 for me, which I usually don't have) extra. As you can see, I applied it straight from the bullet.
It also doesn't have a matte finish but more like a satin one. I think I may be using it only for evenings since it takes way too much work for too little effect.
Overall I found my favorite daily lipstick (02 if you are curious) and also found out to test the lipstick in store before purchasing it.
