Lately, I've been into hair care and with it comes several styling products. Why several? Because I am still on the lookout for the perfect product(s) that will help me make my curls gorgeous.
One of such products is the L'Oreal Stylista #bun gel spray. And the other is the L'Oreal Stylista #braid milk. But today I'll focus only on the bun gel spray.
Notino kindly sent me both for review purposes.
L'OREAL STYLISTA THE BUN GEL SPRAY
Want a fuller, bigger bun?
Stylista Bun Gel-spray can get you there. The non-sticky, silicone-free formula is infused with rose extract which leaves your hair smelling divine while instantly creating a thicker, fuller look.
I mostly have my hair in a bun or a ponytail during work. And since I have wavy hair that leans on the curly side, a nice, sleek bun is out of the question.
But I would still like a bun that would be frizz-free. That's all I'm looking for, really.
This gel spray promises a sleek bun (for me that means fuzz-free) that will last for a couple of hours.
My hair is fuzzy even if it's oily.
The only time it wasn't at least a little bit fuzzy was when my hair was really oily.
And I didn't enjoy that and wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
The next thing I tried was several gels and setting sprays which did make my hair frizz-free for an hour or two but then my hair found a way and got curly once more. Or with the setting spray, it added so much weight that my bun looked bad.
I mean there's no winning here.
THE PACKAGING
The gel spray comes in a plastic pink bottle with a spraying head at the top. It contains 200ml of product and it seems sturdy enough that the cap won't break during use. The spay works nicely and it doesn't clog or gets stuck.
THE SCENT
It has a slight floral scent. It's very pleasant but it disappears after application.
How to Use the L'Oreal Stylista the Bun Gel:
- Step 1: Shake the bottle well before use.
- Step 2: Spray onto the lengths of dry hair.
- Step 3: Work in to build body and create your bun.
- Step 4: Spread a small amount over the hair once the bun is in place for a smooth finish.
MY EXPERIENCE WITH THE BUN GEL SPRAY
I sprayed it on my palms and then I gently ran my hand over my fuzzy hair. With still a bit of product in my palms, I created a bun.
My hair looked sleeker in a moment with less flay aways and less fuzz. The bun looked a tad bigger and nicely put together.
But the main question was - will it stay? And for how long? And after that - will it make my hair oilier?
The gel spray has a watery consistency and looks milky.
The spay managed to hold my bun and the flyaways for a couple of hours (between 4-6) without weighing them down.
I tested it for a couple of days to get a good feeling. I realized that I can use the gel spay for two consecutive days before I had to wash it out. I mean, I usually wash my hair every 2-3 days so it's not a big deal, but I noticed that my hair got a tad more heavy/stickier the second day I used it.
It luckily didn't make my hair oilier in any way.

OVERALL:
I enjoy the gel spray. It has a watery consistency and is easy to use because of it. It has a lovely floral scent which I enjoy. It helps create prettier (as in sleeker) buns with a tad more volume. Not a lot of it, but a tad. I enjoy it because it helps with my flyaways and frizzy hair. I know it's not meant to be used on the scalp as it could make it oilier, but for me, that didn't pose a problem. It does exactly what it promises and in that regard, it works better for me than a fixing spray. The hair looks the same even after a couple of hours and it isn't glued together (or anything like that) as with a regular hair spray. I would repurchase it!
